As we gear up for next week’s South Coast Business & Technology Awards presentation, I’d like to pause briefly to savor the four successful events put on by the Scholarship Foundation last week.
About 650 students, parents, and educators gathered in Allan Hancock College’s Joe White Memorial Gymnasium for the Foundation’s annual north county awards ceremony on May 22. I encourage you to read the Santa Maria Times’ excellent coverage of the ceremony. That evening, several dozen supporters attended a reception at the Far Western Tavern in Orcutt.
The next day we did it all again. The Foundation’s south county awards ceremony took place at the Courthouse Sunken Garden, followed by our annual dinner at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum. For coverage of that ceremony, see Tom Bolton’s report on Noozhawk; the Santa Barbara Independent’s coverage of the annual dinner is available here.
All told, we awarded more than $8.3 million to 2,620 Santa Barbara County students this year.
I can’t say enough about the Foundation’s dedicated staff, whose execution across the board was nearly flawless.
Now on to the South Coast Business & Technology Awards presentation, which will take place Wednesday, June 6, at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort.
Thank you for supporting the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara.
