Tecolote Research is an employee-owned company providing decision support, program management, project controls, software solutions, thought leadership, management consulting, and risk analysis to the federal government. Its primary customers include all the Department of Defense services (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense), multiple agencies within the intelligence community, numerous programs under the Department of Homeland Security, and a multitude of other federal agencies (including, among others, NASA, the Department of Energy, the National Institutes of Health, and the Federal Aviation Administration).

Founded in 1973, Tecolote has grown from its original two founders in Santa Barbara to more than 800 professionals nationwide across 27 locations in 13 states and the District of Columbia. Since 1989, the company has used an employee stock ownership plan to enable all its employee-owners to participate and share in its financial success. Company revenue is expected to exceed $270 million this year – a record high.
