The Scholarship Foundation seeks an accomplished grant writer to support the organization’s fundraising efforts. This position requires the ability to transform data into engaging, inspiring stories that highlight the work and impact of the Scholarship Foundation. The incumbent will be expected to write effective grant proposals, research funding opportunities, renew grants, and collaborate closely with Development staff to align funding priorities with organizational goals. This is a part-time, remote-eligible position, eventually allowing for flexibility to work from home, though some on-site work will be required. For the second consecutive year, the Scholarship Foundation was among a select few organizations nationwide chosen by the U.S. Department of Education to conduct beta testing of the latest FAFSA in advance of its release to the public. In fact, this year the Foundation was the only organization in California invited to take part in the exclusive testing initiative! Our testing workshop took place August 12 at the Santa Maria High School Library and involved more than 100 students. You can read all about it here: https://tinyurl.com/3pdt2wxs

Congratulations to former Scholarship Foundation recipient Dr. Lynn Fitzgibbons, whom the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Foundation has appointed to the Craig Mally and Louise Stewart, MD, Endowed Chair in Graduate Medical Education. Board certified in both internal medicine and infectious diseases, Dr. Fitzgibbons delivered powerful remarks at our 2022 Community Leaders Luncheon. We are very proud to have played a part in her remarkable career!

We had the pleasure of participating in Valle Verde's 2025 scholarship awards ceremony yesterday afternoon. The Scholarship Foundation has administered the Valle Verde Scholarship Fund since 2005. This year, the fund will award 18 scholarships totaling $100,000! Congratulations to the recipients and to the residents of Valle Verde!
